Kurodake Ski Resort

Hokkaido, Japan

Kurodake ski resort is on the other side of the Daisetsuzan National Park to the Asahidake ropeway area. It consists of a single ropeway , and above that a single lift servicing 1 official course. It is however the unofficial course directly under the ropeway that you go to Kurodake for. It is one of the few places in Hokkaido where you can find super steep terrain and on a powder day, it will surely be the highlight of your trip. You don't need a guide if you are just riding under the ropeway, but you do need to stay tight under the ropeway or you end up in dangerous terrain. You should also have your avi gear just in case. Another reason for visiting Kurodake is to do the backcountry run accessible by an hour hike or so above the top lift along the main ridge to the peak of Kurodake. It is a fairly easy ride down along the ridge but you need to have your backcountry gear.I The following guided tours usually visit Kurodake: 10 day Hokkaido Unplugged tour 11 day Ultimate powder tour" tour
